Explosive atmospheres - Directive 2014/68/EU.
Conformity assessment under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) is an EU requirement that ensures the safety of pressure equipment. It applies to equipment operating at pressures above 0.5 bar, such as pipelines, pressure vessels and industrial valves. PED-certified products meet strict safety requirements, which is essential for operating in the EU market. The directive specifies manufacturing processes, materials, testing and documentation to ensure product durability and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
Directive 2014/68/EU on pressure equipment defines the essential safety requirements for the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment. In practice, this means that all pressure equipment sold in the EU must comply with the requirements of the directive.
Conformity assessment covers the entire manufacturing process, from the selection of materials to the final product. The manufacturer must adhere to strict quality standards and document all stages of production. The necessary documents include technical documentation, inspection certificates, instructions and welding qualification certificates, as well as material certificates.
Pressure equipment always carries a risk of explosion if it cannot withstand the pressure for which it is designed. Certification ensures that the equipment can withstand the loads to which it is subjected and that all safety regulations have been complied with during production.
Quite often, pressure equipment operates in a potentially explosive environment. Directive 2014/34/EU requires that products comply with all legislation to which they are subject.
Our company is accredited and notified under the ATEX Directive, but not under the PED Directive, which is why we have signed agreements with companies that are notified under the PED.
