Incomplete-operating-instructions for machinery and inaccurate information.

Incomplete operating instructions and inaccurate information regarding mechanical systems pose serious risks. They lead to operator errors, damage to equipment and serious safety hazards.

Inaccuracies in the operating instructions for machines and mechanisms may have arisen during translation into the user’s language. Technical terms often lose their precise meaning when translated without engineering oversight.

Equipment may have been modified or upgraded without corresponding updates to the manual.

Lack of context – instructions may omit important environmental parameters such as temperature, load limits or calibration procedures. Failure by the documentation authors to take context into account leads to user errors.

Incorrect conversion of units of measurement (for example, pounds to kilograms or inches to centimetres) results in incorrect adjustment values.

Inconsistencies in visual material – the text describes a new version of the device, whilst the drawings or photographs relate to an older model.

Cultural symbols from the country of origin, warning colours or words are misrepresented in the target country.

If a user damages the device by following incorrect instructions, this can lead to protracted legal proceedings regarding liability for compensation. Incorrect maintenance instructions lead to installation errors and prolonged downtime.

The functionality of the instructions must be tested in practice by someone who is not already familiar with the device.
